Amazon-backed AI startup Anthropic just scored a win. A judge ruled their AI training using books was “fair use.”

🚨Breaking News:
A federal judge ruled that Anthropic didn’t break copyright laws by training its AI, Claude, on books. Lawsuit continues partially.

⚡Wire Simplified –

  • Authors sued Anthropic for “stealing” books to train Claude, their AI model

  • Judge said training AI this way is “transformative” and legal

  • Anthropic no longer uses those pirated book files but did retain them

  • A trial will decide if damages are owed for that earlier use

  • Big win for the AI industry but the book isn’t closed yet

✔️Straight to the Point:
AI companies can breathe easy for now. Training on books is allowed, but handling of pirated files still faces legal heat.
