Babysit Chrome? 🖥️

And "AI has feelings?" 😅

Welcome to SaaS Wire — your backstage pass to the hottest in software and services!

What we’ll cover today:

🤖 Microsoft slams “AI welfare” research as dangerous

🌳 Ecosia offers to steward Chrome instead of selling it

💬 SaaS leaders buzzing at upcoming events

Microsoft’s AI boss Mustafa Suleyman says studying “AI feelings” is dangerous. Meanwhile, Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google think it’s worth exploring.

🚨 Breaking News:
Suleyman warns that giving AI “rights” could cause chaos, while rivals are busy creating “AI welfare” programs for chatbots.

⚡Wire Simplified:

  • Some researchers think AI could one day have feelings like humans.

  • This debate is called “AI welfare” (yes, like pet care but for robots).

  • Microsoft’s Suleyman says it is too early and even dangerous.

  • Anthropic gave Claude the power to stop abusive conversations.

  • OpenAI, Google, and others are quietly exploring the same ideas.

✔️ Straight to the Point:
The world cannot decide if AI needs hugs or just better coding. For now, it is humans arguing over robot feelings.

Ecosia, the eco-friendly search engine from Berlin, wants to take care of Google’s Chrome browser instead of Google selling it off.

🚨 Breaking News:
Ecosia asked a U.S. judge for a 10-year “stewardship” deal on Chrome, promising to use its billions for climate projects.

⚡Wire Simplified:

  • Judge may force Google to give up Chrome due to monopoly issues.

  • OpenAI and Perplexity offered to buy it (Perplexity even tried $34.5B).

  • Ecosia says: “Do not sell it, let us manage it for free.”

  • They will use 60% of revenue for climate change projects.

  • Google still gets 40% and stays the default search engine.

✔️ Straight to the Point:
Ecosia turned a monopoly battle into a climate pitch. Whether it is clever or crazy, at least the trees are rooting for it.
