Google is using YouTube videos, yes, the ones uploaded by everyday creators, to train its fancy new AI models like Veo 3.
🚨Breaking News:
Google confirmed it's using a subset of YouTube's 20 billion videos to train Veo 3 and Gemini, raising IP concerns.
⚡Wire Simplified:
Veo 3 creates high-quality AI-generated videos using YouTube footage as training data.
Creators can’t opt out of Google’s internal training, only third party ones like Amazon or Nvidia.
Some AI-generated clips closely mimic real YouTube videos, per analysis.
YouTube says it has protections, but creators say they were never clearly informed.
Google offers legal protection for Veo 3 users if copyright issues arise.
✔️Straight to the Point:
Google is training AI on your old YouTube uploads. It’s legal-ish, but creators are worried they're training their own competition.
🎥 Should creators be able to opt out of Google using their videos to train AI? |

Meta (yup, Facebook’s parent) is scooping up top AI minds like Daniel Gross after failing to buy the AGI startup Safe Superintelligence.
🚨Breaking News:
After a failed $32B acquisition bid, Meta hired Safe Superintelligence’s CEO Daniel Gross and bagged a stake in his VC firm.
⚡Wire Simplified:
Meta tried to buy Safe Superintelligence but got rejected.
So they hired Daniel Gross and his VC partner Nat Friedman instead.
Both will now work under Meta’s new AGI boss, Alexandr Wang.
Meta also got a stake in Gross’s VC firm, NFDG.
AI hiring wars are heating up, bonuses are reaching $100M+.
✔️Straight to the Point:
Meta is playing Pokémon Go with AI talent. If they can’t buy the startup, they’ll just hire the people anyway.
