📈 SaaS leaders debating “lean vs lavish”

Abraham Shafi, founder of IRL’s parent company Get Together, has been charged by the DOJ for allegedly tricking investors in 2021.
🚨 Breaking News:
Shafi is accused of raising $170M by lying about user growth, then spending investor money on weddings and luxury shopping.
⚡ Wire Simplified
IRL was once valued at $1B and backed by big names like Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund.
DOJ says Shafi faked growth by hiding millions in ad spending.
Allegedly used funds for hotels, clothes, and a lavish wedding.
IRL shut down in 2023, but only Shafi is indicted.
He faces up to 20 years in prison per charge.
✔️ Straight to the Point
The fall of IRL shows how hype can blind investors. Startups need more reality checks, less champagne and wedding budgets.
