Meta (Facebook’s parent) tried to buy Runway, a company that makes cool AI videos, before investing big in Scale AI.

🚨 Breaking News:
Meta had secret talks to buy Runway but they didn’t work out. Instead, Meta dumped $14B+ into Scale AI.

⚡ Wire Simplified:

  • Runway is an AI startup that makes video-generation tools (like turning text into video).

  • Meta tried to buy Runway earlier this year, but the deal fell through.

  • Meta then invested $14.3B in another company, Scale AI, and took a 49% stake.

  • They also hired Scale AI’s CEO and others to join Meta’s AI team.

  • Meta’s been talking to lots of AI startups lately, including Perplexity and Safe Superintelligence.

✔️ Straight to the Point:
Meta didn’t get Runway, but it is going full throttle on AI anyway by buying talent and backing Scale AI hard.

🤖 Do you think AI-generated videos will be as common as TikToks someday?

The U.S. House told its staff to delete WhatsApp from their work phones. Meta owns WhatsApp and isn’t happy.

🚨 Breaking News:
U.S. lawmakers banned WhatsApp over privacy concerns. Meta strongly disagrees, saying WhatsApp is more secure than other approved apps.

⚡ Wire Simplified:

  • The U.S. House’s tech team says WhatsApp isn’t transparent enough about how it handles data.

  • Staff must delete WhatsApp from all government devices immediately.

  • Meta fired back, saying WhatsApp is safer than many apps the government did approve.

  • Signal, iMessage, and Microsoft Teams are still allowed.

  • Meta is also facing a major antitrust lawsuit over its acquisitions like WhatsApp.

✔️ Straight to the Point:
Meta is trying to prove WhatsApp is safe, but the government isn’t convinced. Now there’s tension over privacy and power.
