Think your Teams and OneDrive are safe?

Think again.

Cybercriminals are turning trusted Microsoft SaaS into cyber weapons. Here’s how they’re doing it:

  • VEILDrive Attack: Hackers disguised themselves as IT staff on Microsoft Teams and sent a file that secretly carried malware.

  • Remote Access: Using Quick Assist, they gained remote access to set up monitoring tools and issue commands on the infected system.

  • Malware Control via OneDrive: OneDrive became the command centre for these attackers, letting them control systems undetected.

  • Backup Control: If OneDrive failed, the malware used an Azure virtual machine as a backup to receive instructions.

This clever attack bypassed standard security measures, reminding us that even trusted tools can become threats in disguise.
